MacBook 13' Pro Has A Bug That Requires 8-Hours Charging; Here's The Fix
Some users of the 2019 13-inch MacBook Pro recently complained about a strange bug that requires at least eight hours of charging as part of the fix. The issue, which is found on the model with a couple of Thunderbolt 3 ports, keeps the unit shutting down despite that the battery level shows it is sufficiently charged. To resolve this issue, try to follow the steps below.
This workaround can be found on the support website of Apple. In step 5, the Cupertino company suggests charging the 2019 13-inch MacBook Pro for eight hours before updating it to the latest version of macOS. This is an odd solution and is most likely associated with battery calibration. Apple practically suggests SMC reset for better battery management but not for this particular issue.
If your 2019 13-inch MacBook Pro has less than 90 percent battery life, proceed to step 2. If your battery, however, is more than 90 percent, use your laptop until the percentage drops below the 90 percent mark, then proceed to step 2.
Connect your 2019 13-inch MacBook Pro to the power adapter and close all open apps. Close your computer, which means you are putting the MacBook to sleep mode. Charge you mac for at least eight hours; after that, update to the latest version of the macOS.
At the time of this writing, the latest version is macOS Catalina 10.15.1, while the 10.15.2 version is in the beta phase. If the issue still persists after the steps suggested above were followed, then it is high time that you contact Apple and schedule an appointment. If this is an issue related to hardware, Apple will most likely replace your 2019 13-inch MacBook Pro, so prior to the appointment, make sure to back up all your data.
Apple intends to fix software quality issues by overhauling its development process, according to Bloomberg. But, we have been on this road before, and it is worth noting that the company has the same internal revamp following the bug-filled iOS 11 release, which resulted in a more polished release of the iOS 12 build.
