Maddie Ziegler Reveals How Boyfriend Jack Kelly Asked Her Out After 5 Years
Maddie Zeiger’s romance with boyfriend Jack Kelly was a long time coming. The “Dance Moms” alum recently opening up about her relationship, revealing she has known the Australian native since she was a child.
“Well, we met when we were like eight, and then years later we met again, and he’s from Australia, it was kind of funny – and now we’re just dating,” the 14-year-old told GaloreMag.com. “He just kind of asked me and I was like, ‘Yeah,’” she added of how their relationship began.
Previously, Maddie’s former “Dance Moms” coach, Abby Lee Miller, took credit for getting Maddie and Jack together. Maddie has never responded to these claims.
While they’re not always able to get together do to their long distance romance, the Galore Mag cover girl said they do enjoy causal outings when he’s in town. “The past few days we’ve just been going to Pinkberry a lot, and In-N-Out. We’ve been going for In-N-Out and sushi a lot,” she dished.
Elsewhere in the back-to-school inspired issue, Maddie discussed her career. After teasing her novel “The Audition” coming in November, a movie she filmed this summer and the upcoming Fall and Holiday collections for her clothing line Maddie, the teen star admitted she is fearful she may have already “peaked.”
“...My whole career has been moving really fast. So yeah, I do sometimes think it’s moving a little fast, but I always have to stay grounded and just remember I’m a girl from Pittsburgh,” she said. “Now my life is going crazy, I’m in LA. I just need to remember to take it slow.”
Luckily for Maddie, she has positive role models. The actress/dancer looks not further than her pop star pal Sia and self-proclaimed “Dance Moms” fan, actress Jennifer Lawrence for guidance. “There are so many people, Jennifer Lawrence – love her. Her career is somewhere I’d aspire to be. Even Sia. I hope to become as successful as her, but I love how she doesn’t get the paparazzi all the time,” Maddie said.
Fans from Maddie’s “Dance Moms” days will be happy to know that although she’s gone up to bigger roles since leaving the Lifetime reality series in 2016 (Abby refused to say goodbye), she is still an avid dancer. “I still dance all the time,” Maddie said. “I feel like dancing helped me a lot because you have to act when you dance in a way, so I think it really helped me with the transition and made it slightly easier. But it’s definitely so different in a way.”
While Jack, who Maddie said was “sitting right next” to her during the interview, has yet to public respond to her comments, he has made it known in the past that he’s proud of his girlfriend’s achievements. After Maddie secured the Teen Choice Awards for choice dancer for the second consecutive year last month, Jack expressed his joy on Instagram.
“Congratulations to my girl for winning choice dancer,” Jack wrote. “So proud of you bub!! Love you.”
