On Saturday, the 50th anniversary of his death, the world will remember civil rights activist Malcolm X. Before his assassination on Feb. 21, 1965, the influential orator gave several famous speeches that brought thousands of followers to the Nation of Islam, a group of African-American Muslims who backed segregation and revolution. In his lifelong fight against racism, Malcolm X spread dozens of memorable phrases people still reference today.

Here are 20 of his most well-known quotes, courtesy of malcolm-x.org and Wikiquote:

  15. "I've had enough of someone else's propaganda. I'm for truth, no matter who tells it. I'm for justice, no matter who it's for or against. I'm a human being first and foremost, and as such I am for whoever and whatever benefits humanity as a whole."
