Mama June, ‘Dr. Phil’ Interview: ‘I Did Not Believe Her,' Psychologist Says [VIDEO]

“Here Comes Honey Boo Boo” star Mama June Shannon sat down for an interview with Dr. Phil Monday to try to clear up rumors about her allegedly dating convicted child molester Mark McDaniels, but the psychologist said he did not believe what she had to say. Dr. Phil, whose full name is Phil McGraw, told TMZ she did not tell him the truth.

“She rambled around, jumped all over the place. But she was not forthcoming in the beginning at all. I did not believe what she had to say. I told her I did not believe what she had to say,” Dr. Phil told TMZ. “She simply is unwilling to tell the truth.”

The “Honey Boo Boo” matriarch claimed the photo of her and McDaniel in bed together was photoshopped. Dr. Phil pressed her about the picture, but she denied it was authentic. She told him she is not dating McDaniel, who was convicted of molesting her eldest daughter Anna Cardwell, and has only seen him twice since he was released from jail.

“I think this woman has been making really bad choices with these children and the men in her life for a long, long time,” he told TMZ. “This is nothing new.”

Shannon, 40, alleged she never knew McDaniel molested her daughter until recently. "Anna did not tell me, my mother didn't tell me what he was accused of," she told Dr. Phil. “I didn't hear Anna's side of the story until she moved in with me 2 1/2 years ago.”

Even when she did find out, Shannon found the sexual abuse hard to fathom. "A person I lived with five years -- I don't know if he could do that," she said, according to the U.K.'s Daily Mail. "It was a shock. I wanted to talk to Anna to get her side of the story but I wasn't able to."

McDaniel spent a decade behind bars for molesting Cardwell. The reality star, whose nickname is “Chickadee,” told Entertainment Tonight her mother is involved with her abuser. "I'm mad. I'm upset. I feel betrayed. I feel very hurt," she said. "That's the main thing that I am -- I feel very hurt that Mama let him come around."

“She's smiling and giggling when he's around. You know, he's a child molester, Mama. He did this to me,” she said. “Why would you let him come around the girls knowing what he did?”
