Mama June Explains Why Honey Boo Boo Isn’t Doing Pageants Anymore

The tables have turned for Mama June and daughter Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson in the all-new season of “Mama June: From Not To Hot.” Who was once joining beauty pageants has now become the mentor and vice-versa. So for fans wondering why Honey Boo Boo is now focused on training her mother instead of joining pageants, Mama June Shannon has the answer.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight while promoting the second season of her WE tv reality series, Mama June was asked point blank why Alana is no longer seen joining beauty pageants and she gave a very honest answer. “Honestly, she’s more busy with life,” the 38-year-old reality actress said.

Explaining why this is so, Mama June shared that her 12-year-old daughter doesn’t have the time to join pageants at present. “It’s like with everything going on: production, school — this life in general; it gets hard and pageants are a lot of work, and so lo and behold she taught me to doing [sic] something crazy.”

When asked if she thinks Alana could get back to doing beauty pageants, Mama June admitted that she isn’t sure. Interestingly, the mother of four gushed that she thinks Honey Boo Boo is training her to be a beauty queen to give her a hint that she’s still willing to do pageants in the future. “I think it’s her way of saying, ‘OK I wanna get back into them,’” Mama June said.

Following her 300-pound transformation, Mama June is now the one who is living the life her daughter once had. A sneak peek at “Mama June: From Not To Hot” Season 2, episode 2 shows how Honey Boo Boo helps her mom to prepare for a beauty pageant.

In the promo clip, the “Toddlers & Tiaras” alum is seen teaching Mama June how to walk in high heels like beauty queens do. However, Mama June reveals that she’s incapable of walking around with tall heels due to some unfortunate events in the past. Nevertheless, Alana is determined to make her mother a beauty queen, so she coaches her how to do the pageant walk.
