A 42-year-old British man claimed he and his family were forced to prematurely end their stay at a Pontins holiday park in Wales nearly two weeks ago due to their "vile" accommodations.

Peter Ashman, from Oldbury, said he and his family had planned to stay at the Prestatyn Sands Holiday Park for four days and three nights on Aug. 20, but they allegedly discovered the chalet had poo-stained sheets under a staircase and a pair of women's underwear under a bed, the Birmingham Mail reported.

"When we were wiping under the bed, there was a pair of dirty women’s underwear which showed that the cleaner had not been cleaning under the bed," the coach driver was quoted as saying.

"I put the underwear into a carrier bag, which I later showed to the manager," he said.

Ashman also claimed there were poo-stained sheets under the self-catering apartment's outdoor stairs.

"The stench was rancid. It was dated, filthy," Ashman said of the £249 ($342) chalet.

"Because of [COVID-19], my girlfriend had brought wipes to wipe the surfaces and they came up black," he alleged.

Ashman further claimed that the chalet's clubroom had a sticky carpet, had no working kettle and was lacking cutlery or bowls. Additionally, he described the sofa bed as being "torn" and "filthy."

"I suffer from a bad back and I couldn’t sleep on the sofa or bed because it was uncomfortable," he said.

"The staircase wasn’t safe, it was slippery, all the handrails were falling apart with rust. The outside of the chalet was filthy like it had never been cleaned," Ashman added.

Ashman allegedly explained the situation to the holiday park's manager, who proceeded to hand him a "guests solution form."

"He did not offer me another room. We gave them a chance to rectify it, but they said there was nothing they could do because they were fully booked and to take it up with their complaints department," Ashman said.

The family left without a refund and paid £395 ($540) to check in at a campsite for two nights.

Ashman is now asking for the money he paid for him, his girlfriend Kimberley Bevin, 39, and her two children, Leland, 13, and Alex, 11, to be refunded. He has also allegedly informed trading standards of the incident.

"The place is vile, where is the money spent? You would think to yourself that a big place like Pontins would have higher standards because of [COVID-19], but they did not seem to care," Ashman said.
