A man has been reportedly beaten up with an iron rod and forced to eat feces from a garbage heap following a dispute with two men. Police arrested one of the suspects after a video of the assault went viral on social media.

The suspects, identified as Abdul Khalid Shaikh and Fahim Shaikh, reportedly pushed Tanveer Shaikh into a garbage heap and threatened him with a gun before beating him up. The brutal assault happened in the city of Mumbai in the western Indian state of Maharashtra on July 21, Times Now News reported.

The duo also shot a video of the victim eating trash and shared it on social media. Police arrested Abdul Khalid after a local journalist alerted them about the video last week. Fahim is still on the run.

"We had registered a case of attempt to commit murder the same day. But the video has only surfaced now. Investigations are on," said Sanjeev Pimple, a senior investigating officer, reported The Times of India. Abdul Khalid has a criminal record and has 16 cases registered against him.

The suspects and the victim were drug dealers. They developed enmity after the victim joined a rival group recently. A few weeks before the assault, Tanveer and his associates had reportedly attacked Abdul Khalid and recorded a video of it. He then shared it with his friends. The recent attack on Tanveer is believed to be an act of revenge, local news outlet Mid-Day reported.

In May, five people in India were arrested for raping and torturing a woman after a video of the assault went viral on social media. Police found that the victim, who was from Bangladesh, was trafficked to India on the promise of a job. The suspects tortured the victim when she attempted to flee.
