Man Allegedly Kills 6-Month-Old Baby After Suspecting Wife Of Infidelity
A man in India allegedly killed his 6-month-old baby boy as he suspected his wife was cheating on him.
The shocking incident took place Tuesday in the southern state of Andhra Pradesh. The accused, identified as Jarapati Murali, allegedly used to physically and mentally abuse his 20-year-old wife Boggula Deena, questioning her faithfulness, a senior police officer told The Times of India.
On Monday night, he severely assaulted his wife, and fatally hit his 6-month-old child on the head. As the baby started bleeding profusely, the mother tried to rush the child to the hospital. However, the man restrained her and threatened to kill them both if she went to the hospital.
In the early hours of Tuesday, the woman escaped the house with the baby when her husband fell asleep. However, by the time she reached the hospital it was too late. The doctors at the hospital then declared the infant dead, according to local media Madhyamam.
The accused was later booked under several sections of the Indian Penal Code. However, the police did not reveal the exact charges placed against the accused.
It also remains unclear since when the woman has been facing domestic abuse or how long they have been married.
In a police complaint, the woman also said when she was walking to the hospital with her baby, she was attacked by some street dogs.
In another incident last year, an angry father killed his 3-year-old child because his wife wouldn't wear a veil. The accused and his family then secretly cremated the child's body, the police said. The shocking incident took place in the city of Jaipur in the state of Rajasthan. In a police complaint, the child's mother alleged she and her husband used to have regular fights over her refusal to wear a veil. On the day of the incident, the two got into an argument and the accused started beating their daughter. “The accused slapped their daughter, and when the woman objected, he snatched the girl and threw her on the ground due to which she died," a senior police official was quoted at the time.
