Man Allegedly Kills Live-In Partner In Front Of 1-Year-Old Child, Spends Hours With Dead Body

A man in India was arrested for allegedly killing his live-in partner in front of her 1-year-old child.

The accused, identified as Rahul Verma, was arrested Thursday, weeks after he committed the crime. The incident took place in the capital city of New Delhi.

The police told local media the accused allegedly strangled his partner after he suspected her of cheating on him. He then locked the dead body in the rented house where he lived. The accused reportedly spent around nine hours with the body before absconding, Jansatta reported [Google Translate showed].

Authorities also said for the next two nights, Rahul kept coming to the house to spend some time with his partner's corpse. It was not known if the accused was the father of the woman's child. It also remained unclear when the incident occurred, and who was caring for the child after the mother's death.

The police were informed about the incident after someone reported a woman lying unconscious inside a home. Authorities then reached the residence and broke open the door where they found the woman lying on the floor, Times Now reported.

Her body was sent to a hospital for an autopsy. The report said that she was strangled to death.

The identity of the victim has not been made public, and the police are currently investigating the incident.

The latest incident comes as the national capital New Delhi was dealing with the horrific Shraddha Walkar murder case. Walkar was murdered by her live-in partner Aftab Amin Poonawala, who had allegedly cut her body into 35 pieces and then dumped them at different places over several days in the city. He reportedly bought a refrigerator to store the remains of the woman before dumping them.

As the investigation into the Walkar case deepened, new horrific details have emerged in the case. According to a new report, the accused admitted he burnt his partner's face after killing her to hide her identity. Delhi Police sought a narco test of Aftab as the accused had been changing his statements.
