Man Allegedly Rapes And Murders 2-Year-Old Girl, Leaves Her Body In The Bushes

A 35-year-old man in India has been arrested for allegedly raping and killing a 2-year-old toddler, who went missing earlier this month.

The girl was last seen playing outside her house in Surat, a city in the state of Gujarat, on Nov 4. The police were called to the scene after the parents couldn't find the girl in spite of searching for her for three hours.

After analyzing several surveillance videos, the police found footage of a man carrying the girl away from her house, The Indian Express reported.

The man was later identified as Guddu Yadav. The accused lived in the same lane as the girl and had kidnapped her around 8: 30 p.m. local time.

"Around 1,000 policemen, including seven teams of city crime branch, one team of Special Operation Group and 12 different teams, were involved in the case," Surat police commissioner Ajay Tomar told the outlet. "Over 15,000 people were questioned and our teams had checked over 200 CCTV footages and finally the accused was arrested today."

Yadav allegedly kidnapped the girl Thursday, and sexually assaulted her soon after. He then killed her and left her body in the bushes of an open plot in the industrial area of Pandesara. The body was found Sunday morning, The Times of India reported.

"The accused took the victim to a secluded place where he raped her and later strangulated her. After committing the crime, the accused stayed in a friend’s room, and on Sunday evening he returned to his rented house… The accused hails from Bihar and is addicted to watching porn movies. We are questioning him to get more details," the inspector of the police station said to Indian Express.

An autopsy report revealed the girl had sustained severe injuries in her genitals, and had bite marks and scratches all over her body.

Yadav was arrested from his home Monday afternoon and charged with murder, kidnapping and provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
