A 19-year-old man has been arrested from New York City for cyberstalking and harassing a woman in Baltimore, trying to get people to rape, murder and decapitate her in exchange for bitcoin, all because she rejected his romantic advances.

The US Attorney's Office For the District of Maryland said Desmond Babloo Singh was taken into custody on Tuesday, slapped with charges including identity theft and murder for hire, reported The Baltimore Sun.

Court documents said the victim was a former classmate of Singh's sister in middle school. Though he had never even met her, Singh contacted her via Instagram in February, professing his love. The woman rebuffed his advances and warned him not to ever contact her.

However, Singh used more than 100 different social media accounts, besides electronic and phone messages, to stalk her and send harassing and unsolicited messages. From April to November, he accessed all her social media accounts, including Instagram and Tik Tok, and began posting content, after locking her out of them by changing passwords. He also took her pictures and began sending offensive messages to her relatives.

“The messages included express and implied threats of death and bodily injury, sexualized violence and racial slurs,” the documents read.

The victim filed a restraining order against Singh in July, but the authorities couldn't locate him. A week later, Singh sent the Baltimore County police to her home using a bogus bomb threat.

“POSSIBLE BOMB SEND OFFICERS ASAP!!!! DO NOT HAVE ACCESS TO PHONE THIS IS THE ONLY POLICE EMAIL I CAN FIND!!!,” read the email allegedly sent by Singh.

A bomb squad and a K-9 unit responded, but found the message bogus.

Later, the woman approached authorities alleging that someone by the name of 'desmond' was soliciting people to rape and decapitate her in public group chats on the Telegram messenger app.

When the police approached Singh's parents, they reportedly told the officers that he was in New York to attend school, but couldn't enroll due to Covid-19. They feared he was homeless.

If convicted, Singh could get up to 10 years in prison. He is expected to make his initial court appearance next Tuesday.
