Man Dies From Fall After Handrail Slide Stunt Goes Wrong
A Texas man fatally injured himself while trying to pull a stunt by sliding down a handrail, Friday.
Kyle Wolf, 26, was lending a hand to a friend, who was moving into an apartment in Grapevine when he reportedly decided to try out the seemingly simple stunt on his way down. While descending from the third floor of the Texas apartment complex, he attempted to slide down the handrail. Within seconds, he lost his grip and fell over the edge, Fox News reported.
He ended up hitting the concrete hard and as a result, suffered multiple blunt force injuries, according to an autopsy conducted by the Tarrant County medical examiner's office. Firefighters responded to the scene and he was rushed to a nearby hospital. Nearly after an hour after the incident, Wolf succumbed to his injuries at 8:12 p.m. local time (9:12 p.m. EST) on the same day.
On Tuesday the Grapevine police said they had looked into the incident and determined that there was no foul play involved, ruling Wolf’s death an accident.
After his death, a GoFundMe page was set up by Wolf’s fiancée, Maressa Renee’s family members, on Sunday to pay for his funeral. By Wednesday, the fundraising page had already raised over $8,000, exceeding its goal of $6,000.
“On Friday March 1, 2019 our beloved Maressa lost her fiancé, Kyle Wolf in a tragic accident. She will need help with funeral home, and relocating expenses. All our family, and friends have been asking how they can help. This Gofundme would relieve a bit of the financial burden on her and his family during this difficult time,” the page read.
A number of the family’s well-wishers also took to social media to offer their prayers and condolences. “Kyle and Maressa are great people and amazing friends. Kyle we miss you and thanks for always being there,” tweeted one user, while another wrote, “Oh Maressa! My heart hurts for you. I'm so sorry and so sad. I wish I could take your pain from you. Please know I'm here to listen and also know you are in my thoughts and prayers.”
