Man Googled 'Ways To Commit Perfect Murder' Before Strangling Sex Worker To Death
KEY POINTS
- He is also accused of murdering another sex worker in 1997
- CCTV footage showed the victim going to Allen's home
- His mobile phone analysis revealed images of dead females
A man, who is on trial for the murder of a sex worker, searched online for "ways to commit a perfect murder" before he strangled the woman to death.
Gary Allen, 47, is accused of throttling 38-year-old Alena Grlakova on Dec. 27, 2018, before dumping her naked body in a drainage culvert, reports Hull Live.
He is also on trial in a UK Court for murdering another woman 21 years ago. The victim was 29-year-old Samantha Class, whose body turned up on the banks of a river in 1997. Though he was put on trial for her murder, Allen was found not guilty, the Sheffield crown court heard Tuesday.
Prosecutor Alistair MacDonald said Allen killed Grlakova in his flat late on Dec. 26 or in the early hours of Dec. 27. The court was also told that Allen left his home the early morning the next day when he could have dumped her body.
Her body was found almost four months later in April 2019. It was in a highly decomposed state and some of the flesh was scavenged by animals.
A search was done on Allen's home following which police officers recovered a broken mobile phone. "An analysis revealed a series of images of dead females in circumstances similar to those in which Alena was found," MacDonald said.
The prosecutor added that "a number of highly pertinent web searches" were found on the phone. "A search had been made for ‘ways to commit the perfect murder.’ which produced a web response about most common traits of serial killers. A search had been made for ‘murdered female’ which produced a response about girls attacked when sleeping," the prosecutor told the court.
He added that Allen had a "deep-seated" hatred of sex workers and confessed to probation officers he liked to "make them cry."
A CCTV footage was also played at the court and it showed Grlakova going to Allen's flat on the day she went missing. An audio recording of him threatening to "beat her" if she went round again was also heard.
"It is the Crown’s case that all the evidence tells us that Alena was strangled, that her body was deposited, naked, in the Old Slaugh in a place where detection would be difficult, as proved to be the case. This was no accidental death," MacDonald said.
He was also accused of attempting two murders after 1997. The prosecutor said Allen tried to choke one woman and tried to kill another by putting his arm around her neck before he was stopped.
However, Allen has denied all the charges. The trial continues.
