Man Hires 2 Hitmen To Kill Wife After She Finds Out About His Affair

A man in India decided to give his wife a harsh punishment when she found out about his affair with another woman – he hired two contract killers to kill her. The 33-year-old woman was stabbed multiple times and was left to die at her home.

The incident happened in India's capital New Delhi last Thursday. Reena Gullaiya was rushed to a hospital but was declared dead on arrival. The hospital staff alerted police after they found 17 stab wounds on the woman's body.

Police said the couple used to have frequent fights after Reena found out that her husband, Naveen Gullaiya, was having an affair with another woman. Reena allegedly tried to track her husband's location by video calling him often.

"So, the husband decided to hire two contract killers, Rahul and Sonu," senior police officer Benita Mary Jaiker told the Indian Express.

Investigators checked the crime scene and reviewed surveillance footage from the area. They also questioned Naveen.

"When the husband was questioned, he initially misled police saying he had gone to see a homeopathy doctor in Defence Colony with his son, and his wife was alone at home on Thursday afternoon. He then left his son at a barbershop and went to his office," Jaiker said.

Naveen then told investigators that he asked one of his staff members to pick up his son from the barbershop and take him home. He said "at 4:45 pm, he got a call from his employee saying his wife was lying in a pool of blood. He quickly rushed home and took his wife to a nearby hospital where she was declared dead," the officer added.

The husband became a suspect after police found footage of two men entering the house, but three men leaving after the alleged crime.

Officers then checked Naveen's call logs and found that he had called one of the contract killers from that number. He had also made calls to a woman.

Naveen allegedly hired Rahul and his associate for ₹5 lakhs (approximately $6,700) and sent them the location of his house.

"As per the plan, Naveen left his house on Thursday when his wife was taking rest. While leaving the home, he locked the main gate door and passed on the key to Rahul," Jaiker told the Hindustan Times. Rahul and his aide then entered the house and brutally murdered Reena.

All three men were arrested Friday. The husband has confessed to the crime, police said.
