A Florida man, who killed his wife, posed as her for a year before killing her in-laws, police said Sunday.

John Shelby Nealy, 25, killed his wife Jamie Ivancic, last January, and continued to text her parents, pretending to be her, for almost a year. However, when they started getting suspicious as they hadn't heard her voice for long, he killed them on Dec. 16, 2018.

According to court documents, Nealy first killed 71-year-old Richard Ivancic, when the two were home alone, by hitting him in the head several times with a hammer. When Richard’s 59-year-old wife Laura Ann Ivancic returned home, he killed her with the same hammer. He wrapped their bodies in rugs and put them in the bedroom before killing their 25-year-old son Nicholas James Ivancic. He then wrapped Nicholas’ body with a painter's drop cloth, NBC-affiliated television station WFLA reported.

Police found their bodies during a welfare check at their home on New Year’s Day along with the bodies of three small dogs. Tarpon Springs police said they found the home "ransacked and in complete disarray.” Police then tracked down Laura’s car and found Nealy near Ohio along with his two children, aged 2 and 3, Fox 8 reported.

Detectives also noted in their warrant that Nealy used his phone to order a Domino’s pizza, which was delivered to his in-law’s home Dec. 21.

Jamie’s body was found buried in a yard at a home in Pasco County, Florida, a few days after her family was found dead.

Nealy was extradited to the Pinellas County Jail, Florida, from Ohio on Sunday and charged with three counts of each of first-degree murder, aggravated cruelty to animals and one theft of grand theft auto. He appeared before court Sunday and was ordered to be held on no bond.

In a similar incident, a Thailand man killed his wife, two young children and in-laws before killing himself at a New Year party. Sucheep Sornsung, 41, was heavily drunk when he came home to celebrate with his family. However, he had an argument with them after which he shot them all. The dead included his six-year-old daughter and nine-year-old son. He then fatally shot himself.

"No one in this family appreciated me even though I helped out with everything. Let's get this over with then,” he yelled before shooting.

Police Lt Col. Larp Kampapa said, “All of the victims were his family members including his nine-year-old son and six-year-old daughter. They were shot either in the head or the torso… he was angry that as the son-in-law he was not being made welcome by his wife’s family.”
