Man Named Kovid Forced To Use A Fake Name During Travels To Avoid Trouble
What's in a name, you ask? One man, whose name is an eerie reminder of the pandemic that has gripped the world, says it's nothing short of a hilarious nightmare for him.
Though pronounced differently from the wretched virus, Kovid Kapoor, from India, seemed to have realized his name was a bane after one trip abroad during the pandemic.
Kapoor, who co-founded a travel startup named Holidify in 2014, took to social media to share how people responded to his name, according to India Times.
“Went outside India for the first time since COVID and got a bunch of people amused by my name. Future foreign trips are going to be fun,” Kapoor wrote on Twitter.
"For those on this thread, wondering what my name actually means - it means scholar/learned," he shared in the following tweet, adding that his name was not pronounced like COVID. The man went on to share a bunch of experiences he's faced ever since the pandemic began.
"I'm quite used to really enunciate [sic.] my name, stressing that it's a soft D and not a hard D. And to quickly whip out my PAN card from my wallet, just to prove that it REALLY is my name," he shared, in the same thread.
In fact, these jokes get so out of hand in a few instances that he was forced to use a fake name. "At Starbucks, the guy handing me the coffee pointed out the name to everyone else and they burst out laughing - I mostly use a fake name now," he wrote.
It didn't take too long for the tweet to go viral, and people left some rather hilarious comments under it. "I can imagine an announcement on [sic.] an airport. This is the final call for Mr Kovid kindly board your flight before you miss it," shared one user.
"You can surely have your own comedy show ... Sharing all incidents of covid times with all of us. Surely everyone gonna enjoy it," added another. Honestly, this is how you make the best of an unfortunate situation!
