A 27-year-old man in England has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for raping or attempting to rape three sleeping and intoxicated minor girls.

Anthony Nowland attacked his victims, all aged between 16 and 17, after partying with them in separate incidents between 2015 and 2019, Cornwall Live reported.

Nowland, a former worker at Exeter's Royal Clarence Hotel, was under the influence of alcohol or drugs during the attacks.

He raped or attempted to rape two girls in Exeter and raped the third victim in the town of St. Ives in Cornwall, Plymouth Crown Court heard. The victims cannot be identified for legal reasons.

"Knowing someone has attempted to use my body for their own sick satisfaction has left me feeling disgusted,” the 16-year-old attempted rape victim said in a statement read to the judge.

Nowland told his third victim to forget about the attack and invited her to dinner with his long-term girlfriend.

The third victim filed a police complaint against Nowland in 2019 that later resulted in him being charged with the three offenses.

"The aggravating factors are that you were under the influence of drink or drugs at the time of these offenses and you tried to prevent (third victim's name) from reporting the case,” Judge Anna Richardson stated. "You attempted to dissuade her from reporting the matter to police and to forget all about it. You asked her to have dinner with you and your girlfriend.”

Nowland initially denied the allegations but later pleaded guilty to the three attacks on the day of his trial at Truro Crown Court.

He admitted to attempting to rape the 16-year-old girl at his then-home in Exeter in May or June 2015. The teen did not report the incident at the time, but it came to light when police investigated the second complaint.

Nowland also pleaded guilty to raping a 17-year-old girl at the same apartment in February 2016. The teen, who had taken ketamine before the attack, told the staff at a sexual health walk-in center what had happened and later told the police.

Nowland was identified at the time but not prosecuted until three years later, when he had moved to Cornwall.

Nowland also admitted to raping the third victim, who was 17 at the time, at his home in St. Ives on Sept. 5, 2019. The teen had been drinking with a group including Nowland that night and ended up at her attacker's apartment after she felt extremely unwell.

"The offenses were carried out against three different women who were unable to consent due to drink or drugs," said Mary McCarthy, of the Crown Prosecution Service.

Nowland will remain on the sex offender register for the rest of his life.
