Man Rapes 9-Year-Old Daughter Twice, Says 'Goblins' Committed The Crime

A man, who was arrested for raping his nine-year-old daughter, told a court in Zimbabwe on Wednesday that the victim was assaulted by goblins and not him.

According to local reports, on Nov. 23, 2019, the 40-year-old accused asked his daughter to get water to bath in his bedroom. When the victim brought water, the man made the girl lie on his bed and raped her. When the girl started crying, the man threatened to kill if she continued to cry. Upon noticing that the girl was bleeding, the man asked her to clean herself. After bathing, the man called the girl again to his bedroom where he raped her again.

The girl’s mother, who was not at home when the incident took place, returned and noticed changes in the victim’s behavior. When confronted, the victim opened up about the incident. Following this, a police complaint was filed and the man was taken into custody.

During the trial Wednesday, the man claimed his daughter was raped “by goblins he got from a traditional healer.”

“I deny the allegations. It wasn’t me who raped my daughter. I believe it was some charms. They turned into goblins and raped her and she started bleeding profusely,” he told the court.

The man remained in custody and set was set to appear in court again on March 20.
