A U.K. court sentenced a man to three months imprisonment Wednesday for punching his pet cat and biting the feline’s ear off.

According to local reports, a witness contacted the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty in September 2019 to report animal abuse following which the cat, named Litten, along with two other kittens were rescued from 20-year-old Aaron James Williamson’s home. The accused was taken into custody and during interrogation, he confessed to punching the feline several times and also biting its ear off.

“Williamson tortured this kitten. He admitted repeatedly biting Litten's ear, which resulted in the loss of most of it, and that he had lost count of the times he had punched Litten. He said he did it when he was angry,” RSPCA inspector Kate Burris said, adding that the accused “called himself a monster in interview.”

“We are extremely grateful to the witnesses who contacted us, and got these kittens out of this situation despite the position that put them in. It was very brave,” Burris said, adding that the feline was “extremely friendly” and “affectionate” when she first met it.

The cat has since found a new home.

“I just knew he was going to make a perfect addition to any family. I am so happy that he has found a fantastic new home, with people who love him and are caring for him in the way he always should have been cared for. It could have been a very different outcome for him if we hadn't been able to intervene when we did,” Burris said.

Meanwhile, calling the act “sickening,” District Judge Daniel Curtis sentenced Williamson to three months imprisonment and banned him from owning pets for rest of his life.
