Man Repeatedly Rapes Teen Daughter, Son In Their Mother's Absence; Sentenced

A man in Australia was sentenced Monday for repeatedly raping his two young children -- both under the age of 14 -- in their mother's absence.

The 53-year-old unidentified man from Queensland has been sentenced to nine years in prison after the court found him guilty of causing a “gross breach of trust” by preying on his biological daughter and son multiple times while under his care, The Australian reported.

The court heard that the father had raped both his children for over 16 months on occasions when the children's mother, now his ex-wife, was away at work or asleep. The man pleaded guilty to nine counts of rape and five counts of indecent treatment of children under 16 in April, this year.

The man's ex-wife used to leave the children under his care when she went out for work in the afternoons. The investigation revealed that the man had taken pictures of his daughter's vagina and masturbated looking at it while his young son had to witness it, as per The Australian. The boy was also raped and indecently touched multiple times.

However, the court was told that the man had difficulty recollecting the incidents as he was under the strong influence of alcohol and marijuana during this period.

“I am concerned you (the father) appear to perhaps not have accepted responsibility in the sense of claiming you can’t recall any of the incidents,” Judge Katherine McGinness said in court. “The fact you used marijuana and alcohol is no excuse,” she added, Perth Now reported.

After the man was charged, he was diagnosed with major depressive disorders. The court ordered him to be imprisoned without a possibility of parole.

In July, a man in India was accused of raping his 14-year-old daughter in an intoxicated state while his wife was away from home. The police registered a case against a 49-year-old man from the southern state of Andhra Pradesh after he reportedly impregnated his teen daughter. The incident came to light after the girl's grandparents filed a complaint after the victim was found pregnant. After the sexual assault, the girl had revealed the ordeal to her mother, but she did not report the incident as the man reportedly threatened to kill them.
