Three little kittens were rescued by a man who found them stuck on the ice.
The man was able to rescue the kittens by pouring his coffee on them to release the kittens from the freezing ice.
Kendall Diwisch is an oil-patch worker and lives in Alberta.
On Wednesday morning, Diwisch said that he heard the small cries of the kittens that stuck in the snow.
He recorded himself, helping out the kittens and posted the video on Facebook, and the video has gone viral.
In the video, he first approached the stuck kittens to see what their tails are stuck on.
Thanks to his quick reaction and thinking, he quickly goes to his vehicle and takes his warm coffee in order to pour on the kittens to free them.
Diwisch said he discovered the kittens in one of the back-roads that is near one of his wells.
He speculated the kittens were probably abandoned there, and they had stayed outside in the cold, overnight most likely.
On Facebook, he posted he rescued the kittens and took them home to feed and water them, and the rescued kittens looked “healthy and friendly.”
Diwisch later took the kittens to a local rescue group for de-worming.
In a follow-up post on Facebook from Diwisch, he said, fortunately, the three kittens were taken in by one home, and they seemed to be thriving.
He said that instead of separating the “three little rascals” as he nicknamed them, they would all be together in one home. Apparently, they were all eating and very energetic.
He also thanked all those who offered to adopt the kittens.
According to Alberta SPCA, they do not have any open investigation on what happened to these three kittens and why they were abandoned.
The animal shelter claimed the “overpopulation” of felines in the Canadian province is probably the main reason why the kittens were abandoned.
Dan Kobe, a spokesperson for the animal shelter, said this incident should be a reminder on the importance of neutering pets in order to avoid more incidents of young kittens being abandoned.
According to the law, anyone who is found guilty of animal abandonment faces a fine of up to twenty thousand dollars and could be banned for life when it comes to owning animals. The strict regulations were to deter animal ownership unless the person is sure they want the pet for the long term.
