Man Sexually Abuses 71-Year-Old Neighbor's Corpse After Bludgeoning Her To Death

A man has been accused of bludgeoning to death a 71-year-old woman and sexually abusing the victim’s body, police said.

The police arrested Anil Waghmare, a 52-year-old man, from the city of Pune, in the Indian state of Maharashtra on Tuesday on charges of murdering his septuagenarian neighbor.

The woman’s partially disrobed body was found lying in a pool of blood inside her house Monday. Initial police investigation revealed that the woman was sexually assaulted before and after she was murdered.

Waghmare has been arrested on charges of sexual assault, murder and house-trespass to commit offense, reported Hindustan Times. If convicted, he is punishable with imprisonment for life.

“While questioning the neighbors, we got the information that the suspect was seen near the woman’s house on Monday. During questioning, he admitted his involvement in the murder,” Times of India reported quoting a police officer.

The deputies started the investigation based on this tip-off and traced the suspect with the help of the dog squad.

Investigators said that Waghmare knew that the victim was staying alone at her house. The police believe he barged into the victim’s house on Monday and attempted to sexually assault her.

“When the woman resisted him, the latter bludgeoned her to death with a blowpipe. The suspect later sexually assaulted the body and fled,” the police officer added.

The police have discovered the metal blowpipe that is believed to be used for murdering the victim.

A similar shocking incident of sexual assault against an elderly woman was reported last month from the Indian state of Telangana. A 73-year-old homeless woman was murdered and dismembered by 53-year-old Aderla Upender after she resisted his attempt to rape her. Upender is accused of sexually assaulting the victim after inviting the homeless woman to his home on the pretext of offering her food. When the woman resisted his sexual advances, she was killed and dismembered. The investigators found out that the suspect had burnt some of the victim’s body parts and packed the remains in a bag to dump it. He was taken into custody after his friend discovered the woman’s mutilated body parts from the bag and alerted the police.
