Man Spikes Boss' Drink With COVID Patient's Saliva In An Attempt To Kill Him
An employee has been charged with attempt to murder after he allegedly tried to kill his boss by spiking his drink with a COVID-19 patient's saliva.
Ibrahim Unverdi, a car dealership owner from Adana in south-east Turkey, has claimed his employee, Ramazan Cimen, tried to kill him by spiking his drink with saliva he had bought from a COVID-19 patient for 500 Turkish Lira ($71), WION News reported.
Cimen is also accused of stealing 215,000 Turkish Lira ($30,500) that Unverdi had given him to take to the office.
After absconding with the money, Cimen contacted Unverdi and told him that he had taken the money as he needed it to repay his loans.
It was only a while later that Unverdi was informed by another employee that Cimen had purchased saliva from a COVID-19 patient and had tried to mix it in his drink with the intention of killing him.
Unverdi contacted Cimen and told him that he is aware of the attempted murder and also that his attempt had failed, to which Cimen replied with a message that read, "I could not kill you with the virus. I will shoot you in the head next time," WION News reported.
"I would rather he did kill me rather than trying to infect me with the virus. My mother and father have a chronic illness. If he infected me with COVID-19, I could have in turn infected my family and those around me. At least if he shot me in the head, I would be the only one to die. No need to be so evil," Unverdi told local media.
Unverdi has sought police protection and filed a complaint against Cimen.
"Thank God the prosecutor's office gave me protection, and they are now looking for [the employee]. I am sure that a precedent decision will come from the lawsuit I filed," he told local media.
He added, "This is the first time I have heard of such a bizarre killing technique. Thank God I did not become sick. God is always with the good."
Unverdi’s wife also came forward alleging that Cimen tried to infect her too.
"Me and my kids can’t leave the house. We seem to be in prison in our own home," she said. "I trust justice and I want this man to get the necessary punishment."
Police are on the lookout for Cimen. He is charged with attempted murder and threatening behavior.
