Man Tries To Open Bank Account With Fake $1M Bill
An unidentified man in Nebraska tried to open an account with a fake $1 million bill. Lincoln Police are searching for him.
The man walked into the Pinnacle Bank branch at 61st Street and Havelock Avenue around 9:30 a.m. on Monday and presented the bill to a teller. He claimed the bill was real even though the bank employees insisted otherwise. He then left with the fake bill and without opening a new account, Officer Angela Sands said, as reported by the Lincoln Journal-Star.
The police were alerted by the bank staff about this strange encounter. Investigators are scanning the security footage from the bank for the man’s identification. They are also checking his welfare to determine if he had been a victim of a crime, Sands said.
The largest denomination bill ever printed in the U.S. was the $10,000 bill, according to the U.S Department of the Treasury.
Recently, a 61-year-old man in Singapore has been arrested for using a fake S$10,000 Portrait Series. He had earlier presented the bank with the fake note and was credited its corresponding value. Officers from the Commercial Affairs Department arrested the man on the following day.
