  • Manchester United has secretly been progressing in its pursuit of Harry Kane
  • Tottenham has demanded cash and two first-team stars as part of the deal
  • Spurs director says in public that the club has no plans of letting Kane go

A fresh update on Manchester United’s pursuit of Harry Kane has been revealed.

Kane’s future might have been beginning to unravel as Manchester United is believed to have already taken a step closer to signing the Tottenham striker.

Nothing has been made public yet regarding an agreement, but the Red Devils are now “in pole position” to land Kane following “behind-the-scenes developments,” Football Insider reported, citing unnamed sources.

International Business Times could not independently verify this information.

After Jadon Sancho, Manchester United has begun “pushing hard” for Kane and is open to splurging big for his signature.

Finally, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side has given huge “hope” by Tottenham “club chiefs” as a deal is likely to be discussed soon, the report said.

What would be included in Kane’s potential transfer to Manchester United is yet to be revealed, but the Spurs have asked for “£100 million ($139 million) plus two first-team stars” as part of a swap deal, the report added.

Prior and amid Kane’s transfer link-ups to Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea, Tottenham's top brass has been insistent about keeping the prolific goalscorer.

Despite all the updates and rumors about Kane’s transfer saga, nothing has changed in the Spurs’ stance on the matter.

“Keeping him [Kane] is not just my goal, it’s our goal as a club,” newly-appointed Tottenham sporting director Fabio Paratici told Sky Italy last week. “I can’t wait to watch him play live. I’ve been really lucky in the past years because I’ve watched a lot of top players and strikers, like Cristiano Ronaldo, Carlos Tevez, Álvaro Morata, Gonzalo Higuaín, and many more.”

Paratici went on to reveal that he chose not to reach out to Kane and discuss his future because he didn’t want to “bother” him at the UEFA Euro 2020.

“I haven’t heard from him yet because I don’t want to bother the players who are busy at the Euros; it doesn’t seem fair to me,” he bared. “They’re focused on their own goals with their national teams.”

“Right now, [Kane’s] one of the best strikers in the world,” Paratici continued. “He’s a complete player, really special. His physique is that of a real No 9, a true poacher, but he also has an incredibly refined technique. He is able to shoot with both feet and also provides many assists – very few people notice this because he scores so many goals."

"He’s a team player, but he’s a finisher at the same time, so I believe he is among the top three in the world.”
