  • Erik ten Hag reaffirms his commitment to Ajax, despite links to Manchester United

  • Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's job remains in the balance when they visit Watford after the international break

Ajax’s Erik ten Hag has finally broken his silence on the links to him joining Manchester United and has shot all the rumors down with him reaffirming his commitment to the Dutch side.

In an interview with ESPN’s Goedemorgen Oranje, ten Hag revealed why he is not considering a move to Old Trafford.

"I live in the present, so I find it hard to answer this. I always want to improve my team, and as long as I feel this motivation I want to keep going, if Ajax wants that too,” Ten Hag revealed as quoted by the Manchester Evening News.

Before this report came out, it was already believed that ten Hag would not easily leave Ajax due to the amount of respect that he has for Ajax as a whole and this only confirms that rumor.

Ten Hag emerged as the favorite to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as the new manager of Manchester United after the unpopular Norwegian has led his side to a poor run of form recently, highlighted by devastating losses to both eternal rivals Liverpool and Manchester City.

Prior to these games, Solskjaer’s job was already hanging on the line, but the 5-0 defeat to Liverpool was the fire starter for fans to let their frustrations be known to Manchester United management.

Having Manchester City beat them at home for the first derby of the season only poured more salt on the already open wounds.

With ten Hag out of the picture, Manchester United fans now hope that it will be Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers who steps in for the role.

It was reported last week that upper management is confident in their ability to steal Rodgers away from the Foxes as rumors emerged that his release clause can be easily afforded by Manchester United.

Rodgers’ possession-heavy, quick strikes coaching philosophy is such a perfect fit for the current roster of Red Devils that fans are mightily wishing that he would step in.

Manchester United is inching closer and closer towards a lost season with every match that does not end up in a victory, having Cristiano Ronaldo’s return to Old Trafford be for naught.

There are seven days remaining in the international break before they visit Watford at Vicarage Road, hoping that they can pull off a victory and regain the momentum that they had after winning against Tottenham.
