Manchester United News: Michael Carrick Shoots Down Rumors Of Forced Eviction

Manchester United interim manager Michael Carrick made a shocking announcement after another comeback victory this season, but he denied that the club forced him out.

Shortly after defeating Arsenal, Carrick announced that he would be leaving the club after 15 years of being with Manchester United while also shooting down any potential rumors of him being forced out.

“It’s not been an easy one to make, to be honest, but I feel it’s the right one. I’m content with my decision. It was 100% my decision, over the last week, it’s been creeping in. I was conscious that I respected the club and I respected the new manager coming in and I wanted to make the decision before I spoke to him or made any contact with him,” Carrick said in the post-game presser as quoted by the Manchester Evening News.

Manchester United named legendary German football tactician Ralf Rangnick as their interim manager for the remaining six months as they look to salvage their season.

Carrick was elevated to interim manager after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was sacked after disheartening losses to Manchester City, Liverpool and basement-dwelling Watford.

The 14-year England international veteran took the reins of the club ahead of their UEFA Champions League matchup against Villareal, producing a 2-0 victory to secure a spot in the knockout stages.

His masterpiece would come in their victory against Arsenal as the Red Devils traded goals with Mikel Arteta’s side before Cristiano Ronaldo sealed the game at the 70th minute with a penalty.

Leading the club to a record of two wins, one draw and no losses, Carrick’s short stint as interim manager proved to be a fruitful one and brought back hope to the fans at Old Trafford.

Rangnick was pegged to be the man on the sidelines against Arsenal but remained in the stands at Old Trafford as his work visa was approved just a few hours before kickoff.

Rangnick will now have a few days to work with the club at the Trafford Training Centre in Carrington before their match with Crystal Palace on Sunday, December 5.

“I was meant to take some time off after I finished paying and I promised the family that we would have some time together. It feels like the right time to step away. There was no crossover whatsoever. I thought it was the right thing to do for the club. Once I made the decision, that was final and I was happy with that,” Carrick stated.
