  • Manchester United is reportedly prepared to trigger Brendan Rodgers' release clause from the Leicester City sidelines
  • Fans hope that the Red Devils makes an adjustment soon and bring in the former Liverpool manager
  • Rodgers slots in perfectly at Old Trafford for his coaching style and stellar formations

There is growing confidence within the ranks of Manchester United that current Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers will be the one to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

In an exclusive report by Jeremy Cross of the Daily Star, it is believed that the 48-year-old British manager has a rumored exit clause waiting to be triggered and that Manchester United would have no hesitations in paying him out of Leicester City.

The International Business Times could not independently verify the information presented.

Looking into these rumors, Rodgers leaving Leicester City looks to be a nigh improbable move, but this could probably be his last big chance at getting back to a top-tier team in the English Premier League.

Rodgers managed Liverpool from 2012 to 2015 and was on the cusp of a domestic league title when they finished second place during the 2013-14 season.

Common thinking around Manchester United management is that if they had to replace Solskjaer, the next manager must be British, has a respectable coaching record, and can bring out the best of the wealth of talent available at Old Trafford.

Rodgers fits perfectly in that mold, and Red Devils fans are buzzing about the potential managerial change.

Solskjaer’s place on the sidelines of Old Trafford is very much in danger at this point after a poor run of form in the Premier League, along with the growing fan resentment.

The 48-year-old Norwegian is under immense pressure to succeed after failing to capture at least a draw against eternal rivals Manchester City last weekend.

Upper management’s decision to keep Solskjaer disappointed the Manchester United faithful as many of their fans were expecting the club to make a formal offer to famed coach Antonio Conte.

Conte has since agreed to be the new manager of the Tottenham Hotspurs, and Manchester United would be hard-pressed to find a manager of his caliber.

Among the long list of managers being linked to taking Solskjaer’s job, which includes Ajax’s Erik ten Hag, Rodgers would be the next best possible option.

Rodgers slots in perfectly with Manchester United as his coaching style predicated on possession and crisp passes to break the defense leading to scoring opportunities would rejuvenate the dejected club.

The two-week international break should give Solskjaer enough time to make another set of tweaks to his formations and lineups as he clings on for dear life.

Manchester United will be facing 17th place Watford on November 20 in what fans believe should be an easy win, but there is reason to be worried that the Hornets will be able to pull out a draw or even a win against Manchester United.

Should those two worst-case scenarios happen, it could be the catalyst for bringing in Rodgers to Old Trafford.
