Manchester United is optimistic that Ralf Rangnick gets to join the club in time for the faceoff against Crystal Palace on Sunday, December 5.

According to Tyrone Marshall of the Manchester Evening News, Rangnick is yet to receive his work visa, but the club remains confident that it will arrive very soon.

Michael Carrick has been given the green light to remain in charge of Manchester United ahead of their match with Arsenal on Thursday, December 2, after proving himself capable enough to lead the club in their past two games.

Marshall also reported that Rangnick has arrived in the United Kingdom before new travel restrictions were implemented on Tuesday, November 30.

However, there is a growing belief that Rangnick will be somewhere in the stands at Old Trafford for the Arsenal match as a spectator, identifying the strengths and weaknesses of the Manchester United squad.

“The 63-year-old was never going to be able to come in and take the team against the Gunners even if his visa was approved before the game, given he will want at least the training session before the game to drill ideas into his new squad,” added Marshall in his report.

Carrick has led the team to highly favorable outcomes against Villareal last week and Chelsea this past weekend, so Manchester United fans should remain optimistic that they can pull off a win over the surprisingly-better Arsenal squad.

After a slow start to their season, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has led his side to a respectable record of seven wins, two draws and four losses, including a highlight win over Newcastle United last weekend.

Manchester United has regained its fans’ trust since Carrick took over, and there is a ton of pressure on the caretaker’s back to lead them to a win as the Red Devils hope to climb back into the top spots of the English Premier League table.

Should both the Wolverhampton Wanderers and Tottenham lose in their respective matches and the Red Devils pull off the win, they will leapfrog both clubs and take sixth place prior to facing Crystal Palace.
