Manchester United To Use Summer Signing To Land Inter’s Brozovic At Old Trafford - Report

Manchester United could reportedly offer their 2020 summer signing to Inter Milan in a swap deal to acquire the Serie A side’s midfielder Marcelo Brozovic.

Telles, who joined Manchester United from Porto ahead of the 2020-21 season, has failed to live up to the expectations. Knowing Inter Milan need a left-back, the Red Devils are planning to send Telles to his former club, Italian outlet Inter Live reported.

Manchester United signed the 28-year-old Telles from Porto with the hope that he would take over the responsibilities from Luke Shaw as the club’s first-choice left-back. However, not only has he been hit with several injuries but also Shaw’s excellent form this season has not helped the former’s case at Old Trafford, the report further stated.

In the ongoing season, Telles has made only seven appearances in the Premier League, while overall, he has played 16 matches for the Red Devils, across all competitions.

Since Telles does not look to overtake Shaw in the 2020-21 campaign, the Red Devils would prefer to cash in on him this summer. It is believed that Telles’ return to Inter Milan could do well for him. He previously played for Inter in the 2015-16 season, when he was on loan from Galatasaray.

This could work in the favor of Manchester United as they would be able to sign Croatia’s Brozovic, who has been linked with a move to Premier League in recent times. The 28-year-old midfielder has been a vital cog in Inter Milan’s side but his current deal with the Serie A club is due to end in the summer and there have been no talks about an extension. He has been at Inter Milan since the 2014-15 season, playing 229 competitive matches and netting 23 goals.

The swap deal may also work well financially for Inter Milan, according to the soccer website Teamtalk. Tellis will reportedly cost around $24 million, while Brozovic’s transfer fee is expected to be around $36 million. However, the deal anyway would be a profitable one for Manchester United who had paid only $18 million for Telles to Porto in the summer of 2020.
