Manchester United's Target Dusan Vlahovic Prefers Real Madrid Move; Here's What We Know

Manchester United's target forward Dusan Vlahovic reportedly prefers a move to Real Madrid at the end of the season.

Following Cristiano Ronaldo's departure from Manchester United, the club signed Wout Weghorst on loan from Burnley. Now the Red Devils are preparing a big-money offer for 23-year-old Vlahovic, as they see the Serbian center-forward as an ideal long-term replacement for Ronaldo, according to Italian journalist Rudy Galetti.

Securing Vlahovic could be a wonderful move for Erik ten Hag's side. In the recent past, Manchester United have mostly brought in players with short-term solutions in mind with signings of Ronaldo, Weghorst and Edinson Cavani, among others.

Vlahovic joined Juventus during the January transfer window in 2022. He scored nine goals in 21 matches across competitions in his maiden campaign for the Bianconeri. In the 2022-23 season, Vlahovic has netted seven goals and two assists in 16 competitive appearances for Juventus. However, the young forward is believed to be worried about his future after the Serie A side was deducted 15 points for inflating player transfer values, sinking the club in dismay.

As a result, Vlahovic has decided to leave Turin and has asked his representatives to secure a contract from Real Madrid for him ahead of the summer window, Spanish outlet Diario AS reported.

While Real Madrid are believed to be busy with their preparations to land teenage sensation Jude Bellingham, Los Blancos could also invest in a striker for the next campaign as a backup for aging Karim Benzema. The veteran forward had a brilliant season last term, scoring 44 goals in 46 matches in all competitions, but he has failed to replicate the same in the underway campaign.

Juventus are expected to ask a transfer fee of around $87 million for Vlahovic, who has also represented Serbian club Partizan and Serie A rivals Fiorentina in the past. However, Real Madrid are not willing to splurge as much on Vlaholic, and if Juventus refuse to reduce their price in the summer, it is believed that Los Blancos could bring in the young forward on loan with an option to buy later.
