Musician Ryan Adams recently issued an apology for mistreating people in the past after being accused of sexual misconduct by seven women, including his ex-wife Mandy Moore.
Almost a day after Adam’s apology, Moore reacted to the letter her ex-husband shared with the world. Speaking in an interview with NBC’s “The Today Show,” the 36-year-old actress revealed that she has already said what she wanted to say about the situation.
However, the “This Is Us” star admitted that she is “curious” to know why Adams chose to apologize publicly and not “privately.”
“It is challenging because I feel like in many ways I have said all I want to say about him and that situation, but I find it curious that someone would make a public apology but not privately,” Moore said during the interview.
The “Wonderwall” singer gave an apology letter to Daily Mail in which he wrote that he is “fully accountable” for his inappropriate behavior and hopes that people would forgive him for what he has done to them.
“No amount of growth will ever take away the suffering I had caused. I will never be off the hook and I am fully accountable for my harmful behavior and will be for my actions moving forward. I hope that the people I have hurt will heal. And I hope that they will find a way to forgive me,” Adams wrote in the statement.
Later in the interview, Moore explained that she was not “looking” for an apology because she has not “heard” from her ex-husband for quite a while now. The “ Tron: Uprising” star also noted that it is really peculiar to know why someone would do an interview but not make amendments in his personal life.
“I am speaking for myself, but I have not heard from him, and I am not looking for an apology necessarily. But I do find it curious that someone would do an interview about it without actually making amends privately,” Moore said.
Moore previously accused the musician of not letting her work with any other music producers and acting in ways she considered “psychologically abusive.”
“His controlling behavior essentially did block my ability to make new connections in the industry during a very pivotal and potentially lucrative time — my entire mid-to-late 20s,” Moore told The New York Times.
Moore and Adams started their relationship in 2007. The couple tied the knot just two years after dating in 2009 and announced their split in 2015.
