Manny Pacquiao Could've Been KO'd By This Former Undefeated Champ

Manny Pacquiao never faced this former undefeated champ who really has the power in his hands to KO the Filipino legend.

Former WBC lightweight champion “El Terminator” Edwin Valero was once a phenomenal KO artist. Sometime in 2010, Valero was perceived as the fighter who could KO the then 7-division champ Pacquiao.

Shortly after Valero successfully dismantled Mexico’s Antonio DeMarco to win a ninth-round TKO, his name was mentioned as a potential future opponent for Pacquiao. However, the fight didn’t come to fruition and instead, Pacquiao faced former world champion Shane Mosley.

Although Valero has never faced a world champion who is in Pacquiao’s league, he has presented a strong case as the legend’s next possible opponent. At the time, Valero was the only fighter in the 30 years of the WBC to win every bout of his career by knockout. He was also a southpaw who once established a world record by winning his first 18 professional fights by opening round knockouts.

Promoter Rich Cappiello once stated that Valero could have beatn Pacquiao because of the exceptional power the Venezuelan carried in his hands, Bleacher Report noted.

“Valero hit so hard, he absolutely could have beaten Pacquiao on any given night,” Cappiello said.

“Valero was not considered great because he never fought the best fighter’s out there. If he was ever given a shot, he possibly could have proven his greatness,” Cappiello added.

In April 2010, Valero committed suicide in his prison cell, a day after he was accused of murdering his own wife. About a week after his death, his brother Edward revealed that “El Terminator” himself has figured out how to finish Pacquiao.

According to Edward, Valero even demonstrated how he would be able to KO Pacquiao with his punches.

“He would tell me that he knew exactly how to catch Pacquiao with his punches. He would show me the movements of how he would step back and around and throw the punches. It meant a lot to him," Edward revealed.

Edward also disclosed that his brother signed up with Top Rank, Inc. in the hope of finally inking a fight deal against Pacquiao. But for some reason, the said fight never materialized.

Pacquiao’s legacy is already cemented. Valero on the other hand, was a boxing prodigy who, if only had been given a chance, could have arguably changed history.

Sadly, Valero could have become one of all-time greats but will now always be recalled as a wife-beater who eventually descended into a cold-blooded killer.
