Errol Spence revealed that there is “too much money” involved in the Pacquiao vs. Spence fight talks for it not to finally happen.

The welterweight division is stacked with the most popular names in boxing today. With eight-division title holder Manny Pacquiao still not booked for a rematch with Floyd Mayweather Jr., Spence hopes to get a crack at the Filipino legend next year.

Spence has been very optimistic about fighting Pacquiao next after he secure a win against Shawn Porter. In fact, in a recent Spence vs. Porter fight promo by Premier Boxing Champions, Spence defended his plea to fight Pacquiao.

According to Spence, he is on his way to get the fights he needs to become the best fighter in the world. In the process, Spence has got to fight Pacquiao next year.

“I’m gonna get the fights that I need to prove that I’m the best fighter in the world. I think the fight with Manny Pacquiao definitely happens. I think it happens sometime next year,” Spence vowed.

Not only does Spence believe that a fight with Pacquiao could cement his name in the all-time greats but apparently, the superfight needs to happen as there’s “too much money involved” in it as well.

“Too much money out there not for it to happen, too many belts on the line not for it to happen,” Spence noted.

Spence is likely to fight more than twice next year. However, in an interview with Fight Hub TV, the IBF welterweight champ has come to a realization that he doesn’t really need to fight more than twice next year and he would just go after two fighters – Pacquiao and Terrence Crawford.

“I really don’t need to fight 2 more times. And then I’ll fight with Pacquiao and get Crawford,” Spence said.

Based on Spence’s plans, after beating Pacquiao and Crawford, he will consider moving up to 154 and be open to face Canelo Alvarez.

Meanwhile, Spence’s upcoming opponent Porter, also has the same blueprint in his mind. According to Porter, only Spence and Pacquiao are the fights that matter to him at his point. After a win against Spence this weekend, Porter will set his eyes on Pacquiao solely, Boxing Scene reported.

"The fights that matter to me are the ones that will make me the best welterweight on the planet, and that starts with Errol Spence in my next fight. After that I'd like to take on Manny Pacquiao," Porter stated.
