A former rival of Manny Pacquiao has shared what he believes are some possible ways to beat the Filipino legend.

As Pacquiao picks an opponent for his fight next year, more and more young and hungry fighters are lining up in the hope to get a shot at the eight-division title holder. In fact, even some of Pacquiao’s former rivals are suggesting next possible opponents for him.

A few days ago, “Sugar” Shane Mosley suggested that his pupil Ivan Redkach could be a good fight for Pacquiao. According to Mosley, Redkach has the same amount of power in his hands as Juan Manuel Marquez, one of the only few to ever score a clean knockout over Pacquiao.

In an interview with veteran boxing reporter Elie Seckbach of EsNews, Mosley looked back at the time he and Pacquiao battled it out inside the boxing ring.

According to Mosley, Pacquiao’s next opponent should watch out for counter-punches as “Pacman” is really good at it. “Well he’s got to be ready for the counters. Manny is a great counter-puncher. He has fast feet,” Mosley noted.

Mosley also emphasized that Pacquiao likes to be aggressive, and in the process, he tends to make some mistakes. Based on Mosley’s recollection, Pacquiao’s next opponent should take note of it and wait for the perfect timing when the boxing icon finally makes a mistake as soon as he leaps forward for a punch.

“Be ready to catch Manny when he makes a mistake. When he jumps in and leaps and make mistake be ready to catch him,” Mosley emphasized.

Meanwhile, Pacquiao is being linked to two young fighters once again. Danny Garcia and Mikey Garcia are both frontrunners as the 41-year-old legend’s next foe.

However, Pacquiao appears to have a different idea amid all the potential fights being presented to him. According to Pacquiao, a fight with Amir Khan could be finally materialize next year and he believes that it would be a good fight for him, Boxing Scene reported.

“I’m planning for next year; trying to make it for next year with a possible opponent. Especially Amir Khan wants to fight me. We will talk again. It would be a good fight," Pacquiao said.

Despite being open to fight Khan, the next opponent is still unknown as Pacquiao plans to negotiate with Khan after a fight he has committed to early next year.

“We can discuss that, a fight between us. I have a commitment for my next fight - one fight only. But after that we can talk. No problem," Pacquiao added.
