Margot Robbie-Jared Leto Update: Harley Quinn Kissing The Joker In ‘Suicide Squad’ Was ‘So Messy’

While thousands of adoring fans would probably want to smooch “Suicide Squad” star Jared Leto, costar Margot Robbie said their make-out scenes were messy. Not only did Leto stay in character the entire time throughout the filming process, his character, The Joker, wore lipstick.

Robbie, who plays villainess Harley Quin, said make out scenes with lipstick are messy enough — let alone with both people wearing rouge. “It is so messy,” Robbie, 26, told People Magazine at the flick’s New York City premiere Monday. “I've done kissing scenes where I have lipstick on and that’s a nightmare but to have two of you having the lipstick on, it's terror.” It would take up to ten minutes for makeup touch ups.

Robbie’s character, a former doctor, falls unabashedly in love with The Joker after she becomes a victim to his mind games. Despite The Joker being a terrifying character, Robbie was not afraid of him. “Once you get over the initial shock of meeting Mr. J, you kind of become desensitized to it I guess so it seemed normal after a while,” she said.

Even though her “Suicide Squad” character is head-over-heels for a man, Robbie isn’t in any rush to get married. She denied rumors she secretly tied the knot with boyfriend Tom Ackerly.

In fact, the Australian beauty is too busy to walk down the aisle. “I can't even get a day off at the moment so that's stuff's gonna have to wait,” she told Extra, according to the U.K.’s Daily Mail. It doesn’t mean she’s not fond of her beau, though. “I may be biased but I think he's the most handsome guy in the world,” Robbie said about Ackerly.

She was surprised how hard she fell for her boyfriend. “(Before we met) I was the ultimate single gal,” she told Vogue in May. “The idea of relationships made me want to vomit. And then this crept up on me.”

“Suicide Squad” comes out in theaters nationwide Friday, Aug. 5.
