Mariah Carey Wears Show-Stopping Red Dress At Rockefeller Center Tree Lighting Performance
Mariah Carey was the star attraction at the Rockefeller Center tree lighting ceremony on Tuesday night, upstaging even Santa Claus at the holiday event, according to the Daily Mail.
The singer took to the stage in a low-cut red and silver dress that showed off her ample cleavage, despite the 30-degree midtown Manhattan weather.
Right before her performance, she tweeted, “Walking to the stage to perform at Rock center. Let the festivities begin! Thx 2 all the lambs who are braving the temps here! LYM!!!”
Thousands of fans showed up to see Mariah sing, even though the official tree lighting is not until Wednesday evening; her performance was prerecorded for the 80th annual tree lighting celebration.
Despite the extreme cold, the singer kept her composer and did not shiver as she performed “All I Want For Christmas Is You,” a holiday staple for her for nearly two decades. Santa Clause also joined the singer on stage, notably more warmly dressed than she was.
Later, she performed another song while wearing a wintry silver gown with white fur trim.
Mariah was among many stars performing at the celebration, including CeeLo Green, Il Divo, Rod Stewart, Victoria Justice, Trace Adkins, Chris Mann and the Radio City Rockettes, according to the Mail.
Bette Midler and Billy Crystal will also make special appearances at the two-hour event that will air on NBC on Wednesday night.
This year’s 80-ft. tall Norway Spruce will be topped with a Swarovski Star made of 25,000 crystals and weighing 550lbs.
The tree will be lit daily from 5:30 am to 11:30 pm through Jan. 7. It will stay lit for 24 hours on Christmas Day and until 9pm on New Year's Eve.
