Each year, fans of Nintendo and its "Mario" franchise look forward to March 10, which is recognized by the gaming industry as Mario Day. Another Mario Day has now passed, but devoted fans can still celebrate the beloved and timeless video game with sales on certain "Mario" and "Super Mario" titles.

The first installment of the “Super Mario” series was “Super Mario Bros.,” which was released for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) in 1985. But technically, the Mario character’s first appearance was in 1981 as the protagonist of the game called “Donkey Kong.”

Gamers shopping for something to play on their Switch in celebration of Mario Day 2021 can check out what Best Buy has to offer. The retailer has a good lineup of physical game carts that buyers can add to their collection. An article from USA Today lists which ones are part of the promotion:

First up is “Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle,” which has the biggest discount right now. Originally priced at $59.99, the event sees it drop to $14.99, which is about 75% off.

The gameplay is described as a turn-based tactical RPG developed by Ubisoft that sees a crossover between each studio’s characters.

Next is the first-party remake of a Wii U racing title called “Mario Kart 8: Deluxe” for the Switch. As the name implies, this port packs all of the DLC which gives players access to 42 characters in total.

Moreover, the Joy-Cons can be toggled to enable motion controls for a more immersive experience. It can be bought for $39.99, which translates to about $20 in savings.

Other notable deals include “Super Mario Odyssey” ($39.99), “Super Mario Party” ($38.99), Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe” ($39.99), and “Luigi’s Mansion 3” ($38.99).

For those who prefer digital copies for their hybrid console, Nintendo is also hosting a Mario Day 2021 sale on the eShop. But SlashGear points out that the selection is only limited to four “Mario” games.

The landing page reads: “Happy MAR10 Day. Celebrate everyone’s favorite ground-pounding superstar by saving 35% on select ‘Mario’ games. These deals last through 11:59 p.m. PT on 3/13.” Games listed are: “Super Mario Maker 2” (38.99), “Super Mario Party” ($38.99), “Luigi’s Mansion 3” ($38.99) and “Mario Tennis Aces” ($38.99).
