Markiplier remains one of YouTube's biggest and highest-paid stars after nearly 10 years on the platform.

The 32-year-old internet sensation and philanthropist, best known for his gaming, animation and sketch comedy content, ranked third in Forbes’ list of the top 10 highest-earning YouTubers of 2021.

The YouTuber, whose real name is Mark Edward Fischbach, made $38 million last year, according to the publication.

Markiplier’s earnings nearly doubled from 2020 due to the strong sales of his Unus Annus merchandise series, which includes T-shirts, hoodies and other items, the report said.

In 2020, he ranked fifth in Forbes’ list of the top-paid YouTube stars with $19.5 million.

Markiplier joined YouTube in March 2012 and uploaded his first video the following month. In August 2014, he began his famous “Five Nights at Freddy's” playthrough, which remains his most popular one to date.

Currently, Markiplier has 31 million subscribers. The Hawaii-born internet personality has an estimated net worth of $35 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth.

Prior to 2021, he made between $10 million and $20 million annually from his various social media endeavors, the outlet said. Markiplier earned $12.5 million in 2017 and then $17.5 million the following year, which was enough to make him the sixth highest-paid YouTube star in the world. In 2019, he raked in $13 million.

Markiplier is now hoping to remake himself as a TV star, according to Forbes. Last year, he filmed a television adaptation of “The Edge of Sleep,” a post-apocalyptic thriller that he initially dramatized as a podcast in 2019. He plans to sell the series to Netflix, Hulu or another streaming service this year.

Over the years, Markiplier has received several awards for his YouTube and philanthropic work. He won the Purpose Award for Social Good – Creator in 2019 and the scripted series award for "A Heist with Markiplier" in 2020 at the Streamy Awards.

He was named Celebrity of the Year at the 2016 Make-A-Wish Foundation award ceremony and received the Oliver R. Grace Award for distinguished service in advancing cancer research from the Cancer Research Institute in 2020.

Markiplier also won a Diamond Creator Award/YouTube Creator Reward at the 2016 YouTube Creator Awards and earned a Golden Joystick Award for best streamer/broadcaster in 2017.

Markiplier reportedly owns a $4 million home in the La Cañada Flintridge area of Los Angeles.
