“Married at First Sight” Season 10 premieres Wednesday, and it looks like another family member takes issue with one of the marriages. The above clip, exclusive to International Business Times, reveals that one groom’s grandmother disapproves of his upcoming wedding to a stranger on the Lifetime reality show.

Brandon Reid goes out with his family, who all understand that he wants to be on “Married At First Sight.” However, applying and getting matched are two very different things. He tells his family that he has “some really exciting news.”

“I just found out the experts have a match, so I will be married in 10 days,” he says.

He is congratulated, but his family doesn’t look thrilled. They’re shocked, but it’s his grandmother that he’s most worried about. “If she’s not happy with my decision to get married, I don’t know, I would really have to sit down and consider it,” he tells the cameras.

His grandmother wants more information. While she had been told he was applying for “Married at First Sight,” she didn’t know how serious the reality show is. Couples are legally married without ever meeting or knowing anything about each other before exchanging vows.

“You’re attractive, you’re friendly, you’re outgoing, you’re very personable. You haven’t ever had a problem with finding friends. Why would you want to do something like this?” she asks.

“I’ve tried the traditional route of trying to find a wife and it just hasn’t worked out for me, so I’m willing to take a chance,” he says.

Brandon is a 34-year-old sales manager born in the U.S. Virgin Islands and raised in the Washington, D.C. area. He is hoping to marry someone who prioritizes family as much as he does.

“Married at First Sight” Season 10 premieres Wednesday, Jan. 1 on Lifetime.
