‘Married At First Sight’ 2020 Spoilers: Mindy Feels ‘Robbed’ Of Wedding Tradition
“Married at First Sight” weddings are anything but traditional, but couples like to keep some things pretty standard. After meeting as strangers at the altar, most brides and grooms typically dance with one of their parents at the reception. However, in a video exclusive to International Business Times, viewers see that Mindy Shiben’s dad did not attend.
In the clip (seen above), the most experienced “Married at First Sight” expert, sociologist Dr. Pepper Schwartz, explains that this tradition celebrates the bond between parents and children.
“Because our couples are still practically strangers, this show of support is even more touching on this special day,” she says.
Unfortunately, that isn’t the case for one bride. Mindy gets to watch her new husband dance with his mother, but she’s sad that her father refused to attend the wedding. She married Zach Justice, a fitness professional who was raised with traditional southern values.
“I’m hurt and sad and disappointed that my dad’s not here today,” she tells the cameras. “Nothing’s gonna change that I wanted to dance with my dad. I just feel like I’m robbed of that experience.”
Mindy, a figure skating coach, previously told her family about the wedding, and they didn’t take it well. Her father thought it was a “dumb” idea and both her mom and dad refused to come to the wedding. Since her sister died last year, Mindy doesn’t have much family at the wedding.
Hopefully, the bride won't let her lack of support bring her down all night. Fans can see how the reception goes when a new two-hour episode airs tonight.
“Married at First Sight” Season 10 airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. EDT on Lifetime.
