‘Married At First Sight’ Season 5 Spoilers: One Husband Loves His Wife Already In Episode 6
The “Married at First Sight” couples tend to do things backwards. Love doesn’t really come in until a bit further into the season, but one husband already dropped the L-word in “Married at First Sight” Season 5, episode 6. However, that doesn’t erase their problems. As the couples returned to Chicago and planned to move in, their differences became clear.
Danielle and Cody
After Cody Knapek admits that he wants to “pull back” a bit, Danielle DeGroot is concerned and confused. When they go home, they spend a night apart. A little time away makes all the difference, though. Cody realizes he just needed a minute to recharge. He’s ready to build a marriage with Danielle.
Danielle is nervous about her rambunctious dogs, but Cody loves them. They know that her home is too small, though, and they certainly aren't going to live with his parents. They need to find a new place, and that means talking about finances.
Cody jokes that his ego is hurt when he hears that Danielle makes more money than him, but he doesn’t really care. They’re relatively close, and neither has much debt to worry about.
They look at houses together, and they make sure neither has a worse commute than the other. They find a townhouse that works with a nice master bedroom. Will that finally inspire the two to consummate their marriage? They’re still the only couple that hasn’t had sex yet.
Sheila and Nate
In last week’s episode, Nate Duhon said that he didn’t want to be married anymore, and even though he admitted it was a mistake, it hurt Sheila Downs. Sheila is reminded of her past relationships where her partner wasn’t interested in fighting for the relationship.
Nate blames his reaction on feeling like he was disrespected. He doesn’t deal with that well. He leads a prayer to God for their marriage, and it makes Sheila feel a lot better about the situation. She knows they were matched because of their values and faith.

In the airport, Sheila asks Nate how he feels about his wife. “I love my wife. Period,” he says. It looks like the two are over their fight from the honeymoon.
When they get home, they have to go to their separate houses because of work and car situations. When Nate finally gets to Sheila’s house, he’s impressed with her neatness and style. She even has a whole room for clothes.
However, Nate and Sheila have to live with Nate’s little brother Tyrique while he’s going to college. Nate is worried his brother and wife will not like each other, but they seem to get along fine when they meet.
Sheila makes more money than Nate, and he’s cool with that. However, Sheila is concerned about his savings habits. She doesn’t want to spend a ton on their new place, but he thinks they should enjoy their money.
They see a big house that Nate loves, but it’s almost a grand above their price range. They agree that this can be a goal one day, but this isn’t their house. They find a small place that is a good fit for both of them and Tyrique.
Ashley and Anthony
Anthony D’Amico decides to brush off all of Ashley Petta’s talk about babies. After all, they’ve only known each other for a couple weeks. He is just excited to get back to reality after the honeymoon.
When they return to Chicago, he’s surprised to find they have some different living habits. Ashley Petta keeps shoes in her cupboards. Anthony, who loves cooking, can’t see himself living in the small apartment. Anthony has a roommate, so they want to find a new place for a fresh start.
Anthony is fine that Ashley makes more money, and they set a price range for the apartment. They find a place that seems almost perfect — until Ashley finds out that there is no designated parking. Anthony doesn’t think it’s a big deal, but he doesn’t want to fight this battle. They agree to find a different place.
Eventually, the newlyweds find a high rise that has all the space they need and designated parking. They start moving in, but they’re nervous. Now that the honeymoon is over, their marriage will really be put to the test. “If it doesn’t work out, I would be devastated,” Ashley says.
“Married at First Sight” Season 5 airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. EDT on Lifetime.
