‘Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3’ Trailer Reveals X-Men And Magneto
A new trailer for “Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3” has arrived, showing some of the most beloved and dearly missed characters in the Marvel universe: the mutants from "X-Men."
“Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order” is a new action RPG title to be released exclusively for the Nintendo Switch in July this year. It features many playable Marvel characters coming from popular titles such as the “Avengers,” “Defenders,” “Inhumans,” the “Spider-verse,” and of course, the beloved “X-Men.”
A new dawn
A new trailer for the game showed some of the most iconic characters in the "X-Men" come back to fight against the evil plans of the Black Order and its evil master, Thanos.
The trailer showed popular villains Magneto, his assistant Mystique and the hulking Juggernaut as they fight against the game’s heroes. Soon, the heroes are joined by two X-Men, namely Nightcrawler and the fan-favorite Psylocke.
Some fans might be disappointed to see that they are are only X-Men seen running and fighting in this trailer, but a photo hanging on a wall inside Professor Charles Xavier’s mansion showed two more iconic X-Men: Cyclops and Colossus. At the moment, we don’t know if they’ll join the roster as playable characters or not.
Magneto is shown to be in possession of what appears to be the power stone, one of the infinity stones Thanos is looking for. Soon, the Black Order would show up to take the stone away from him. We then see Magneto change sides for a while and join the Alliance against the game’s baddies.
Welcome Back
Polygon noted that this trailer, and ultimately this upcoming game, is great news for Marvel fans that love the X-Men and wished to see the mutants in Marvel’s video games. One of the most recent Marvel video game titles, “Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite,” didn’t feature any mutant at all. This new title seeks to remedy that.
A quick look at the comments below the YouTube trailer would provide evidence that these characters are indeed missed. Many of them rejoiced at the fact that the X-Men have returned, even without Jean Grey, Jubilee and Bobby Drake (a.k.a. Iceman).
The latest “Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3” trailer simply shows what “alliances” can do. Since Disney now owns the rights to the X-Men, Fantastic Four and other Marvel characters, players can expect to see more of these mutants in future releases -- including a certain chimichanga-loving hero at the end of the trailer.
