‘Mass Effect: Andromeda’ To Run At 900p, 30 FPS On Xbox One; No Season Pass For BioWare Game
Bad news “Mass Effect: Andromeda” fans. It appears that BioWare has not designed the game to be an outstanding visual treat on home consoles. Also, the developer has not come up with a season pass for players to take advantage of.
BioWare General Manager Aaryn Flynn revealed this week more details about the upcoming action role-playing third-person shooter, but they are certainly not the kind to keep fans wanting more. Flynn reportedly took to NeoGaf forums to air out how the game would perform on home consoles.
As per One Angry Gamer, the thread about the new “Mass Effect” game was initially focused on why the developer won’t be launching a version for the Nintendo Switch. However, Flynn revealed some information on the performance of the sci-fi adventure on the Xbox One and PS4.
In his statement, Flynn said that “Mass Effect: Andromeda” will run at 900p at 30 frames per second on Microsoft’s video game console. On the other hand, it will run at 1080p and at the same FPS on Sony’s gaming device just like other Frostbite games.
Flynn also noted that only the PC version of the game will have uncapped framerate. He added that in cutscenes, the framerate could go beyond 30 fps. “I think we’ve even gotten over the 30 fps cap in cutscenes, but I’ll double-check in the next couple of weeks,” Flynn wrote.
On Twitter, Flynn also answered a couple of questions from fans. DualShockers learned that when he was asked if there will be a season pass for “Mass Effect: Andromeda,” Flynn simply responded “Nope.” When asked by the same fan if he could explain more, he replied that they will be talking about DLCs in the future.
Despite the disappointing news, there is also a positive confirmation from the developer. The official Twitter account of the franchise revealed that EA Access members on Xbox One will get the chance to play the game for “a limited time” prior its official release. Though there is no announcement if PC members will also get the same treatment, it’s very likely that they would get early access as well.
“Mass Effect: Andromeda” is slated for release in North America on March 21 for the PS4, Xbox One and PC. More details about the game are expected to arrive this month so stay tuned.
