Fort Grey’s bus drivers go on a strike in this week’s episode of “The Mayor.”

According to the synopsis for Season 1, episode 5 of the ABC series, the city’s public transportation comes to a crippling halt when the bus driver’s union conducts a strike. Courtney (Brandon Micheal Hall) immediately tries to solve the issue but is outmatched by Amber, the fierce Transit Union lawyer who makes him realize that he’ll need more than his charm and Val’s (Lea Michele) advice to reach a new deal with the group.

In the trailer for the episode, Courtney meets with two members of Fort Grey Transport Association in an attempt to learn more about the group’s demands. But because the mayor can’t give everything they want, Courtney asks, “If you could have one wish [what would it be]?” Unfortunately for Courtney, the two representatives give two different answers, making it more difficult for him to resolve the issue.

T.K. (Marcel Spears) and Jermaine (Bernard David Jones) also try to solve the situation by employing a focus group.

“This focus group represents a good cross section of this city. We figure out what they’re willing to sacrifice and we can free up some money for a fair union contract,” Courtney tells Val in a sneak peek from the episode.

While Val acknowledges that T.K. and Jermaine’s idea “isn’t the worst idea in the world,” the focus group quickly turns unruly.

“Thank you for participating in this confidential focus group.,” T.K. tells the participants.

“We’re gonna ask some questions. There are no wrong answers,” Jermaine adds.

“We just wanna get a window into your souls,” T.K. says.

But because T.K. and Jermaine are trying to upstage each other in front of the participants, one of the members of the focus group loses interest and walks out of the room before the activity even begins.

Elsewhere in the episode, Dina (Yvette Nicole Brown) and her two best friends are excited about their annual tradition of taking a sick day to pamper themselves, but their plans get derailed by an unforeseen chain of events.

“The Mayor” Season 1, episode 5, titled “The Strike,” airs on Tuesday, Oct. 31 at 9:30 p.m. EDT on ABC.
