Meagan Good And DeVon Franklin End 9 Years Of Marriage Due To 'Irreconcilable Differences'
Meagan Good and DeVon Franklin have split after nine years of marriage. The American film producer filed for divorce in a Los Angeles courthouse, citing "irreconcilable differences" as the reason and listing Aug. 21, 2021, as the official date of their separation.
Franklin filed for divorce Monday. The estranged couple confirmed their separation in a statement to People, saying they decided to live their lives separately "after much prayer and consideration." They also said they would stay "forever connected" despite going their separate ways.
"We celebrate almost a decade of marriage together and a love that is eternal," the two said in the statement. "There's no one at fault, we believe this is the next best chapter in the evolution of our love. We are incredibly grateful for the life-changing years we’ve spent together as a husband and wife. We are also extremely thankful to God for the testimony being created inside us both and for blessing our lives with each other."
Good and Franklin first met on the set of their 2011 film, "Jumping the Broom," and got engaged in May 2012. The pair tied the knot on June 16, 2012. They have no children together.
While their divorce seems amicable, the actress shared two cryptic quotes via Instagram Stories on the same day Franklin filed the paperwork. One of the quotes she posted read, "Start making people understand it's a privilege to be in your life." Meanwhile, the other quote read, "Healing isn't pretty, but the other side is freaking beautiful."
Six months prior to the filing, the two posted tributes to one another as they celebrated their ninth anniversary.
"To the love of my life, my husband/ purpose partner, happy anniversary!!" part of Good's post read. "This makes #9 and eternity you go!"
Franklin also took to Instagram on Dec. 2 to praise Good's work on her Amazon Prime series, "Harlem."
"I'm so proud of my love @Megangood! She's one of the most talented actors on the planet AND she's funnier than you may know but I'm so glad you finally get a chance to see her do it all as Camille Parks in the new Amazon show #Harlem @Harlemonprime!!" he wrote at the time.
