Meet The Singer Who Nina Dobrev Can’t Recommend Enough

After trusting Nina Dobrev to play the character of Elena Gilbert on The CW’s “The Vampire Diaries” for over 130 episodes and her proving time and time again that she was more than worthy of that trust, fans should have faith in her. Which is why when she recommends something, like a new artist we should be listening to, then it’s probably in all of our best interests to take that suggestion to heart.

So when Dobrev posted on Instagram on Tuesday about new music that her friend Leslie Powell just released, it became clear that it was music we should all be checking out immediately.

While you might not have heard of Powell before, she is a staple on Dobrev’s Instagram as the two are good friends and even celebrated Labor Day Weekend together, her last name should sound a little familiar. That’s because her brother is actor Glen Powell, who starred as Chad Radwell in Fox’s “Scream Queens” series for two seasons.

But now Leslie is ready to make a name for herself in the world of music with her new single “Happy Place.” And if just knowing that Dobrev advises listening to Leslie’s music isn’t enough, then perhaps the strong praises she had to say about her and her music in her Instagram caption will be the convincing factor.

“My girl Leslie’s song ‘Happy Place’ just dropped on @spotify,” Dobrev started the caption to go with her Instagram post. “GO CHECK IT OUT !!! Mama’s got some strong pipes... boy can she sing.”

The compliments didn’t stop there, though. The former “The Vampire Diaries” star continued to spotlight Leslie’s talents and explain why she’s the perfect new artist everyone should be checking out.

“AND she writes her own music,” the 28-year-old actress continued. “She plays instruments. She is mega talented and AND she one super cool chick with an amazing personality, a heart of gold, great humor and a smile that will light up your life. Couldn’t speak more highly about her, she’s a gem.”

Dobrev’s friends must all go to her when they’re feeling a little down because she’s the best at giving long-winded compliments and really showcasing all the greatness of others. She’s also great at making fans a little jealous, like when she teased even more great music from Leslie that the rest of us have to wait to hear.

“Looking forward to you guys discovering this precious stone of a woman, and hearing the rest of her music (there’s so much more coming out soon that I’ve had the pleasure of hearing before everyone else ... haha suckers...) anyway, when it does, you guys are gonna freak!!!”

With a glowing endorsement like that, it’s impossible not to want to check out Leslie’s music. Plus, the clip that Dobrev posted of her new single, “Happy Place,” is also more than enough to make you want to head to Spotify to hear the full track.

Unfortunately, she only has the one song on her Spotify so far, but, luckily, that’s not the only place her music can be heard. Leslie has posted a few singing videos to her Facebook page, including a short, but lovely, cover of Niall Horan’s “Slow Hands.” Clearly music is her happy place, as she couldn’t stop smiling throughout this whole video.
