Meghan Markle was recently accused of using one of her ex-boyfriends as social currency.

Relationship guru Annabelle Knight analyzed the “Suits” alum’s previous relationships, starting off with a man she dated when she was still studying at the University of Chicago.

While speaking with The Sun, Knight said that Markle was just moving into her new world in Los Angeles when she dated basketball star Steve Lepore. The latter was already settled and popular, and these were two things that were apparently important to Markle.

“She was very proud of having landed this handsome guy and happy to share photos of him. She spoke of how broad and beautiful his chest was… Meghan was used to being the ‘star’ of the pairing but Steve was the star of the basketball team… She hadn’t ever dated someone like that,” Knight said.

The relationship guru went on to claim that it seemed as though Markle used Lepore as a currency for her progression. Markle reportedly aimed her sights high and didn’t fail to meet her target.

Several years later, Markle dated Trevor Engelson and their romance ended in a marriage. Since Engelson works as a producer, his career choice was a bonus for the Duchess of Sussex.

“Their relationship could have led Meghan to hone her desire for success and most certainly would have provided her with new types of opportunities and contacts. They enjoyed a successful relationship lasting almost a decade and Meghan will have learned valuable skills that she most certainly will have taken into the relationships that succeeded the marriage,” Knight said.

Unfortunately, Markle and Engelson’s marriage was short-lived. The couple tied the knot in 2011 but they divorced two years later. In 2016, Markle was introduced to Prince Harry by their common friend. The couple got engaged in November 2017, and they tied the knot on May 19, 2018, at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle.
