Meghan Markle To Celebrate Mother's Day In US For The First Time
KEY POINTS
- Meghan Markle will celebrate Mother's Day for the first time in the U.S.
- The Sussexes honored Mother's Day in March as well
- The family are reportedly staying at Tyler Perry's house in Los Angeles
Meghan Markle is celebrating her first Mother’s Day on May 10 in Los Angeles, which she, husband Prince Harry, and their child Archie are calling home.
The family has made the bustling city their permanent residence since they stepped away from their senior royal roles, a move they announced in January. This weekend marks a special one for the Sussexes since it’s the first time Meghan will hold a proper observance of Mother’s Day as a mom in the U.S., Hello Magazine reported.
However, it is going to be the second time she will actually celebrate the occasion, the first one being last year in the U.K. In May last year, the Duchess of Sussex took to their official Instagram account to share a photo of Archie’s little feet.
“We honor and celebrate each and every one of you. This is the first Mother’s Day for The Duchess of Sussex,” the caption read, paying homage to all the matriarchs all over the globe.
In the U.K., Mother’s Day is commemorated every March and because the former “Suits” actress gave birth on May 6, 2019, she may have celebrated the event with other parts of the world.
For this year, the Sussexes honored moms in March as a nod to the U.K. celebrations.
“No matter what you call your mum, this Mother’s Day in the UK, we honour the mums all over the world who do so much every single day, and now more than ever,” the couple said in an Instagram post.
After leaving the royal family in March, the family have since traveled to Canada before settling down in Los Angeles, where Archie celebrated his first birthday and where his parents, Prince Harry and Meghan, have reportedly bought their new house.
Daily Mail reported that they are currently residing at Tyler Perry’s Beverly Hills mansion, although there is no word if they have bought the $18 million property or if they are renting it out. The outlet’s sources, meanwhile, claimed the family has stayed in the spacious home since they left their royal posts.
“Meghan and Harry have been extremely cautious to keep their base in LA under wraps. Their team helped them choose the location for their transition to Los Angeles wisely,” the insider explained.
