Meghan Markle is criticized for doing the same things Kate Middleton is praised for.

There is a double standard between the two duchesses. Many noticed that when Middleton and Markle do or wear similar outfits, one is praised while the other is criticized.

“Meghan is subjected to double standards that are blatant in their intent to frame her as an ignorant, uncouth, and unfit for the aristocracy, much less the royal family,” royal commentator Kristen Meinzer told Insider.

The expert noted that when Markle was spotted wearing a pair of wedge shoes, InStyle reported that she broke the royal protocol. However, when Middleton was photographed wearing it, the publication reported that it was “the most versatile shoes of the summer.”

Also, when Prince William and Prince Harry’s wives were pregnant, Markle was subjected to harsh criticism for always cradling her baby bump. It turned out that Middleton did the same during her three pregnancies.

“Over and over again, the press tears Meghan apart for crossing her legs, saying it's a breach of protocol. But do a quick Google image search of ‘Queen crossing legs,’ ‘Camilla crossing legs,’ ‘Di crossing legs’' etc., and yo’lll find dozens if not hundreds of photos of royals at official events crossing their legs,” Menzi added.

Earlier this year, the double standard between Middleton and Markle once became apparent after they both wore a one-shoulder dress. Prince Harry’s wife donned a black one-shoulder Givenchy gown at the British Fashion Awards. Many criticized Markle and slammed her for breaking a royal protocol.

However, months after that, the Duchess of Cambridge stepped out in a white one-shoulder dress when she and Prince William attended the BAFTAs together. Middleton received nothing but praises for her outfit because she looked like a “goddess.”

“No hate against the #DutchessOfCambridge, she looked beautiful at the #BAFTAs, but the #DutchessOfSussex received SOOOOOO much hate for ‘breaking protocol’ wearing an off-the-shoulder dress, yet Kate is being praised,” one online user wrote on Twitter.

Just like Markle, Sarah Ferguson also experienced the same double standard. Ferguson was criticized for democratizing the monarchy, but Middleton was praised for helping the monarchy become even more genuinely democratic.
